This is a written tutorial for how to get a free house in Skyrim.
1 Become thane in whiterun so you can buy the house
2 Go into the Jarls quarters find Proventus Aveniccis room
3 wait until 6 AM
4 stand between him and his dresser
5 talk to him an look at the dresser
6 ask to buy the house
7 when it asks you to confirm press A then quickly B on Xbox, X than O on PS3 Don't know for the comp
8 quickly click on the dresser to open it
9 Go to your Misc items and put all your gold in it
10 go out of the menu then it will give you the house without taking any money out
11 Enjoy the Breeze home it is next to the black smith
